FACESHIELD
Face Shield to support NHS during COVID-19 Pandemic
This initiative comes following the heightened awareness of low reserves of protective equipment against COVID-19 for NHS staff. Gordano Support Group’s team of designers have produced a reliable and robust face shield design in just 24 hours, utilising materials available in our facilities. The design is based on current designs being used by the NHS in the UK by Aseptium & 4c Engineering please see http://aseptium.com/corran/
The masks are made from 1.5mm of PETG plastic which is renowned for its resilience and glass like visibility. This plastic is then attached to self-adhesive Polyurethane, a type of foam, which a Velcro headband is then looped through each side. Each shield takes the production team 5-7 minutes to make and will be available for NHS workers in a mater of days. An initial batch of 1000 face shields are in production and will be disseminated to NHS workers in the South West.
Staff welfare is of utmost importance throughout the production process and the shields are made following government guidelines in a safe environment at Gordano’s facilities in Bristol.
We became aware this was something local schools and universities were offering through their design technology departments and we knew this was something we needed to do. We are proud of Gordano staff for taking such an initiative and the adaptability of our workforce under the current environment.
A further problem facing the NHS is warehouse facilities for storage of vital equipment. To help provide some much-needed secure storage space and logistic support personnel, Gordano are teaming up with logistics provider, RT Keedwell Group offering them warehouse facilities at Gordano’s Logistic Support Centre in Highbridge utilising both racked and floor space in their 70,000 sg ft facility. http://www.gordanosupport.com/warehousing-storage-solutions/
